José Ferrer
Virtual World Creator and XR Leader for the Medical and Healthcare Field
José Ferrer has been creating virtual worlds since 2020 from his home in Barcelona, Spain. He’s a medical doctor, acupuncturist, and oriental medicine practitioner who also loves to build spiritual and magical virtual spaces as his creative expression.
He feels that by using VR, he can add this immersive feeling to help others to connect with their inner selves. José also loves teaching others and is the clinical leader of the XR Medical and Healthcare Team of Educators in VR, hosting events to promote the use of VR-XR in the medical field.
In his “real-life” work as a family doctor and clinical tutor, he’s leading some innovative research projects using VR for treating the burnout of the healthcare workers and for medical training in BSA.

Frequently Asked Questions
I've always loved architecture. I started to learn worldbuilding during the Covid-19 pandemic. Outside of my regular work, I found myself with a lot more free time on my hands and dedicated much of my time to learning the tools and techniques for worldbuilding. Building worlds in virtual reality has allowed me to pursue my love of architecture while creating experiences that promote wellbeing and greater connection with humanity.
Many of my worlds are accessible through AltspaceVR. For more details on how to use AltspaceVR, see the Resources section.
I'd love to learn more about your project. Please contact me, and we can discuss further.
VR has many amazing applications that are already being used within medicine. I'm currently spearheading a project at the hospital I work at where we use VR to address physician burnout. VR also has incredible applications within training for both medical procedures as well as soft skills. It has even been used to provide exposure therapy for PTSD and various phobias.
Thanks for your interest. I love sharing my work and have been honored to have it featured in the past. Please send me a note, and we can discuss the specifics.
